MODI WINS SUPPORT OF 7 NATIONS BIMSTEC TO DO WAR AGAINST TERRORISM

Global Diplomacy Emperor Prime Minister Narendra Modi said today at the Kathmandu Heads-of-Government Summit that: “India is committed to work with the BIMSTEC member nations in the critical sector and to combat the menace of terrorism and drug trafficking”.

Global Diplomacy Emperor Prime Minister Narendra Modi said today at the Kathmandu Heads-of-Government Summit Innaugural Session that: “I believe that there is a big opportunity for connectivity – trade connectivity, economic connectivity, transport connectivity, digital connectivity, and people-to-people connectivity.”

The BIMSTEC is a 7 Nations regional grouping around the Bay-of-Bengal, comprising India, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Bhutan and Nepal.

The 7 BIMSTEC Nations are 22 per cent of the global population.

The 7 BIMSTEC Nations have the combined gross domestic product of 2.8 trillion USD.

BIMSTEC fits very well with India’s neighbourhood policy and the policy to develop the North-East Region in India.

“It’s going to be a landmark summit for the regional grouping as it will set a framework for institutional development of the BIMSTEC.”

The ongoing summit will also provide guidelines for strengthening the BIMSTEC Secretariat situated in Dhaka.

“Peace and stability in the region is essential for the development and growth of the member states.”

The BIMSTEC Summit was attended by Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena, Thailand Premier Prayut Chan-o-cha, Myanmar’s President Win Myint and Chief Advisor to the Government of Bhutan Gyalpo Tshering Wangchuk.

Global Diplomacy Emperor Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that: “An early conclusion of the agreements on trade in goods, trade in services, investment, mutual assistance in customs matters, dispute settlement and trade facilitation is the need of hour to enable BIMSTEC to effectively move forward.”

Global Diplomacy Emperor Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that: “India is committed to work with the BIMSTEC member states to enhance regional connectivity.”

Global Diplomacy Emperor Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that: The BIMSTEC Region has become a meeting point for India’s Neighbourhood First and Act East policies.

Global Diplomacy Emperor Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that: “The Bay of Bengal holds special significance for the security and development of all of us.”

Global Diplomacy Emperor Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that: “There is no country in the region which has not suffered from terrorism and trans-national crimes such as drug trafficking linked to networks of terrorism.”

Global Diplomacy Emperor Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that: India is ready to host a conference under BIMSTEC frame-work on narcotics related topics.

Global Diplomacy Emperor Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that: “This is not a law and order problem of one country. We must unite to tackle these problems”

Global Diplomacy Emperor Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that: “The BIMSTEC member Nations situated between the Himalayas and the Bay of Bengal face frequent natural disasters such as flood, cyclone and earthquake, therefore there is need for the “cooperation and coordination” among the BIMSTEC Nations, in quickly ensuring humanitarian assistance and disaster relief efforts.”

Global Diplomacy Emperor Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that: “As no single country can move alone for attaining peace, prosperity and development, we need to collaborate and cooperate with each other in this interconnected world.”

Global Diplomacy Emperor Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that: “We need to work together in the areas of trade, economic, transport, digital and people-to-people connectivity for our common benefit.”

Global Diplomacy Emperor Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that: “We not only have diplomatic relations with all BIMSTEC countries but (we) are strongly connected by civilisation, history, art, language, cuisine and shared culture.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered to host a BIMSTEC Exclusive Conference in the areas of agricultural research and various other initiatives, including for start-ups, for the common benefit of the member nations.

Global Diplomacy Emperor Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that: For research on art, culture and other subjects in the Bay of Bengal, India would set up a Centre for Bay of Bengal Studies at the Nalanda University.

Global Diplomacy Emperor Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that: India will host International Buddhist Conclave in August 2020 and invited all BIMSTEC Heads of Government to attend the event as guest of honour.

Global Diplomacy Emperor Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that: India is committed to enhance its national knowledge network in the field of digital connectivity in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal. India also plans to extend it to Myanmar and Thailand.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi invited the BIMSTEC member Nations Delegations to attend the India Mobile Congress in New Delhi in October 2018.

Global Diplomacy Emperor Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that: India’s Northeastern states would play key role in enhancing connectivity with the BIMSTEC countries.

Global Diplomacy Emperor Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that: The Science and Technology Interventions by the India Government in the North Eastern Region is an initiative for the development of the region, and could be extended to BIMSTEC nations.

Global Diplomacy Emperor Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that: India will also provide scholarships to students, researchers and professionals from the BIMSTEC member nations to study in the North Eastern Space Application Centre.

Global Diplomacy Emperor Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that:  India will Host the BIMSTEC Youth Summit and form a BIMSTEC Women Parliamentarians Forum.

Global Diplomacy Emperor Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that: I hail the BIMSTEC Multinational military exercise being held in India next month.

Global Diplomacy Emperor Prime Minister Narendra Modi returned to New Delhi on 1 September 2018, from Kathmandu in Nepal after the Historic Success in the BIMSTEC Summit.
